The Portuguese have been harvesting the wind for centuries. Every town had at least one wind machine to mill the grain. Then the great sailing ships of Portugal. Now there are small pockets of wind turbines all up and down the Portuguese coast line generating power.
I took a circuitous route inland. It ascends up onto a long ridge from the town, passing the maritime museum along the way. About 2 miles in, the trail became covered by Eucalyptus harvesting
One of the two restaurants close to the hostel had this fantastic banana type pie. I met a local fisherman there who was sipping a Sagres beer, Marco. We had a good conversation, talking about living there etc.
